A Murewa school pupil has died following a fight with another seven-year-old learner at Zengenene Primary School in Mashonaland East province.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed that the incident occurred on Friday, October 23, 2026, on the school grounds.
Police identified the deceased as Anotida Makoto, who reportedly collapsed and lost consciousness following the altercation.
“The victim reportedly collapsed and lost consciousness after the altercation,” police said in a statement.
Makoto later arrived at St Paul’s Musami Hospital, where medical personnel pronounced him dead on arrival.
Police have not disclosed what led to the fight or established the cause of death.
The death of the Murewa school pupil raises concerns about safety and supervision in schools, particularly when disputes between young children turn physical.
